Belmont Resources seeing wide zones of mineralization at its Lone Star copper-gold project in Washington State

The discovery of a feeder system may add an additional resource target and significant upside potential to the Lone Star project, CEO George Sookochoff said

Belmont Resources Inc (TSX-V:BEA) said that drilling has intersected wide zones of mineralization on its Lone Star copper-gold project in Washington State.

Drill hole LS21-003 contained “variably mineralised” core, with massive quartz-sulphide veins intersected in the dacite-hosted Upper Zone, Belmont said in a statement, with disseminated to locally abundant sulphides intersected in the serpentinite-hosted Lower Zone.

Significant intersections from the hole included 55.8 metres (m) grading 0.6% copper equivalent (CuEq) from 155.2m, including 9.15m at 1.2% CuEq; 22.3m at 1.1% CuEq from 125.6m, including 9.5m at 1.5% CuEq; and 5m at 4.4% CuEq.

Highlights from other holes included 7.6m at 1.4% CuEq from 7m, 17.7m at 0.8% CuEq from 5.5m, and 36.1m at 1.3% CuEq from 25.5m, including. 12.2m at 3.4% CuEq.

Lone Star is under a joint venture between Vancouver-based Belmont and Australia’s Marquee Resources.

"Drilling continues to support the new geological model to be that of a submarine rhyolite dome with associated VMS,” Belmont CEO George Sookochoff said in a statement.

“At least three stratigraphically separate rhyolite layers, each of which is prospective for undiscovered mineralization, have been identified thus far… The discovery of a feeder system may add an additional resource target and significant upside potential to the Lone Star project."

Assays are pending for LS21-016 and the lower 150m of drill hole LS21-010, Sookochoff told investors, but the top portion of LS21-010 assayed over 36 meters of 1.3% CuEq including 12.20 meters of 3.39% CuEq.

The CEO added that Belmont geologist James Ebisch is tentatively interpreting these two holes as intercepting a sub-vertical feeder for one or more of the three stratigraphically separate rhyolite layers closer to surface.

Drilling continues 24 hours a day as part of a 42 hole, 6,000m diamond drilling program. The program is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.
