AuKing Mining Ltd (ASX:AKN) CEO Paul Williams talks Koongie Park Copper-Zinc Project progress, with potentially commercially significant cobalt mineralisation detected during the 2021 drilling program.
Koongie Park presents an extensive tenure package of over 500 square kilometres, with excellent infrastructure in the form of the Great Northern highway bisecting the project and two deposits with established mining licenses granted pre-native title act.
Since listing the company has completed an exploration program consisting of 29 drill holes for 6,400 metres, drilled with a combination of reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling.
The program successfully intersected high-grade copper, zinc and other elements across drill holes at both the Sandiego and Onedin deposits.
AuKing says these drilling results have established a basis for pursuing potential extensions of known mineralisation, including the discovery of a potential 700-metre copper zone to the north of Sandiego.
Potentially commercially significant cobalt, molybdenum and rare earths have also been discovered via drilling, adding multi-element exposure to the project beyond copper and zinc.
Moving forward, AuKing has planned development activities for the Koongie Park project that include testing the northern copper discovery, investigating the presence of mineralisation at depth, down-hole geophysical surveying and cobalt-targeted sampling of old drill holes and drill core.
These efforts will culminate in metallurgic test-work for the Onedin deposit and a resource update for the project.
