Newfield Resources Ltd (ASX:NWF) has enhanced the technical and operational skillset of its board through the appointment of highly experienced mining engineer Alistair McQueen Croll as a non-executive director.
The new director has in excess of 35 years of experience in the industry and worked for De Beers and Anglo American in Southern Africa for more than 20 years before moving to Australia in 2005.
He then held operations officer roles for Consolidated Minerals Australia, St Barbara Limited and Mawson West Limited, which was TSX listed at the time.
Diamonds expertise
Appropriately for NWF, he has also served as CEO for Kimberley Diamond Company, which was owned by London listed Gem Diamonds Ltd, and for Blina Minerals, which was ASX listed at that time.
Newfield executive director Karl Smithson said, “The directors are excited to welcome Alistair to the board.
“Alistair brings operational, technical, general and project management experience to Newfield.”
He has worked in a number of commodities including diamonds, gold, platinum, manganese, chrome, nickel and copper across sub-Saharan Africa, West Africa, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
Wealth of experience
For the past five years, he has assisted in consulting roles for a number of mid-tier mining companies and also conducts safety leadership coaching for a large company in the construction sector.
Smithson added: "His wealth of experience in both the underground and open-pit environments across various commodities coupled with a strategic view of operations and mining will be of great assistance to the company’s growth as we advance the Tongo Diamond Mine into production.”
