Rumble Resources Ltd (ASX:RTR) is buoyed by the latest copper-gold assays from the Lamil Project in WA’s Paterson Province, which is being explored under a joint venture (JV) with fellow ASX-lister AIC Mines Ltd.
AIC unveiled findings from a 43-hole, 8,800-metre reverse circulation (RC) drill campaign completed over September and October last year, with results confirming copper sulphide mineralisation is associated with an extensive mafic dolerite intrusive at the Lamil Dome prospect.
The highest levels of copper mineralisation came from the target’s eastern flank, generating a 1-metre hit at 2.26% copper and 51 parts per billion (ppb) gold from 90 metres.
AIC says the strong assay has piqued its interest, and the company intends to complete further drilling on the eastern flank to better explore the high copper grades.
Vectoring towards possible discovery
Commenting on the Lamil drilling results, AIC Mines managing director Aaron Colleran said: “An intercept of 2.26% copper from 90 metres justifies our exploration strategy and certainly warrants follow-up.
“The 2022 field season will be an exciting one as we use the data we have collected over the last two years to vector towards a possible discovery.”
Zinc-lead sulphide prospects
Outside of Lamil’s copper potential, AIC also discovered that zinc-lead sulphide mineralisation is hosted in carbonaceous sedimentary rocks at the Goodenia and Desert Pea targets.
Wide spaced drilling at Goodenia has now defined base metal anomalism over an area of four square kilometres but has not tested the large gravity anomaly at depth.
Deeper drilling to intersect the gravity anomaly will be conducted in the 2022 field season.
About the Lamil JV
The Lamil Gold-Copper Project is in the Paterson Province in the northwest of Western Australia, 500 kilometres east of Port Hedland.
Under the terms of an earn-in and exploration joint venture agreement with Rumble Resources, AIC can earn a 50% interest by spending $6 million over four years.
Thereafter, AIC can earn a further 15% by spending $4 million over one year if Rumble elects not to commence contributing.
Exploring iconic Paterson Province
The Paterson Province is one of the most highly endowed yet under-explored mineral provinces in Australia. It hosts the world-class Telfer Gold-Copper Mine and the Nifty Copper Mine.
The Lamil Project, which covers 1,280 square kilometres, is midway between these two mines.
Lamil captures a covered belt of Yeneena Supergroup rocks (which host mineralisation at both the Telfer and Nifty mines) bound by two deep penetrating, belt parallel north-northwest-trending structures.
In the southern tenement (E45/5271) the project is also influenced by regionally important northwest-orientated faults, and a series of major northeast-trending cross faults that are mappable across the entire belt.
All these structural features are considered important in the development of major mineral deposits in the Paterson Province, as they represent critical vertically accretive plumbing systems for circulating and trapping mineralising fluids.
