Kingwest Resources Ltd (ASX:KWR) has defined 11-kilometres of a nickel-fertile ‘highway’ ultramafic unit to be tested at the Lake Goongarrie Project, previously unexplored due to an inconsistently thick layer of lake sediment cover.
The ultramafic highway continues beyond Kingwest’s tenure, hosting significant ‘Kambalda-style’ nickel sulphide deposits along strike to the south, including Auroch Minerals Ltd (ASX:AOU)’s emerging Saints deposits, as well as the historic Scotia Mine that produced 30,800 tonnes of nickel metal between 1969 and 1977.

“We are now finally in a position to commence meaningful and effective exploration for nickel sulphide mineralisation within our Lake Goongarrie Project, following the flying of a detailed aeromagnetic survey in late 2021,” Kingwest Resources CEO Ed Turner said.
“Kingwest’s Goongarrie tenement package hosts multiple nickel exploration targets directly along strike of the Kambalda-style, komatiite-hosted, ‘Saints’ channel nickel sulphide deposits.
“The 11-kilometre continuation of the nickel-fertile Highway Ultramafic within our land holdings holds great discovery potential for nickel.
“This potential is in addition to the excellent gold prospects we have within the Goongarrie Project.”
An initial 3,000 metres of air core drilling has been scheduled to follow the current Sire Laurence Gold discovery extensional drilling currently taking place, to take full advantage of the drill rig already on-site.
