ElectraMeccanica (NASDAQ:SOLO) Vehicles Corp has revealed that it has delivered a total of 20 of its SOLO EV electric vehicles (EVs) to 15 fleet and commercial customers since deliveries began in October last year.
In the year-to-date for 2022, ElectraMeccanica said it delivered 20 SOLO EV cars to reservation and fleet holders as of end January this year, said the Vancouver-based EV maker.
In a statement, ElectraMeccanica (NASDAQ:SOLO) CEO Kevin Pavlov said: “We continue to focus on deliveries to our fleet and commercial customers, representing a broad spectrum of industries looking for a right-sized sustainable solution.”
He added: “As of February 6, we have delivered 20 SOLO EV vehicles to commercial fleet customers, with more in the queue. Early reservation customers, who are current vehicle operators, are reporting on the benefits of utilizing SOLO EVs in their operations, including Skechers USA (NYSE:SKX), Faction Technology, Cyber Yogurt and Ruby’s Diner.”
Pavlov noted that recent deliveries – to Which Wich, University of California, Berkeley, the City of Mesa, Ross Painting, Maria Villareal Real Estate, Medcenta Pharmacy and Vortex Mental Health – are validating how the SOLO EV can optimize and “right-size fleets” for urban spaces.
“With the upcoming rollout of the SOLO Cargo model featuring an expanded cargo box, we expect commercial interest from an even broader audience and for sales to continue to ramp – particularly in urban delivery applications,” Pavlov concluded.
Meanwhile, Michael Fujita, the fleet supervisor at UC Berkely Facilities Services, said they are “excited” to utilize the firm’s newest fleet purchase of three SOLOs.
“The ability to use these to go to and from campus will help greatly with our Carbon Neutrality Plan to reduce Cal's carbon footprint,” added Fujita. “Using the SOLO instead of a full-size pickup truck will not only be more "green" but also easier to navigate throughout the campus. We look forward to a productive future with ElectraMeccanica (NASDAQ:SOLO).”
On receiving their SOLO, Nancy Hormann, who is the president and executive director of the Downtown Mesa Association, said: “Having the very first SOLO in Arizona delivered to Downtown Mesa has been a great experience. Using the car as our parking compliance vehicle has been met with great enthusiasm.”
She added: “The compact design of the car is great for helping our compliance officer navigate tight spaces in the garages as well as cutting patrol time in half. The curiosity demonstrated by our Downtown patrons has made the car a great conversation starter.”
Hormann also noted that the technology they were able to install in the SOLO is the perfect complement to the association’s 'Smart City' designation.
