Visionary Gold Corp (TSX-V:VIZ) has revealed that gold mineralization was encountered in every one of the first five holes drilled last year at its Wolf gold project in Freemont County, Wyoming, USA, which is also the first-ever drilling program in the Lewiston District.
The assays, from 780 metres (m) of drilling, revealed continuous gold mineralization over 480m of the 2.6 kilometre (km) shear zone.
Drill results included a width of 1.13 metres (m) at a grade of 1.06 grams per ton (g/t) gold from 51.91m depth in one hole and 0.21 g/t over 5.49m from 61.30m depth in another.
"Intersecting gold values in each drillhole of the first-ever drill program in the Lewiston District confirms the existence of a large gold-bearing hydrothermal system, supporting our exploration thesis," Visionary Gold CEO Wes Adams said in a statement.
"We know from extensive surface sampling and mapping that higher-grade zones of mineralization exist within the Wolf Shear structure, but more drilling is needed to further define them," he added.
Adams noted that the company plans to drill-test three recently defined parallel mineralized structures that have been identified adjacent to the Wolf Shear Zone, as well as other new targets generated during the "busy 2021 field program".
"Full results from regional exploration and a summary of new drill targets will be forthcoming," he said.
All holes in the 2021 program were sunk from northwest to southeast across the interpreted strike of the Wolf Shear Zone and the mineralized corridors appeared to be continuous over the full 480m.
However, the widths and grades of mineralization appear to be increasing slightly to the northeast along strike, said the company.
Vancouver-headquartered Visionary Gold is focused on precious metals discovery and development in the historically productive Lewiston gold district of Fremont County, Wyoming.
It says the district, despite having a strong gold mining history, has never been explored using modern techniques. The company currently controls an around 50 square kilometre (sq km) land package with numerous drill-ready targets.
