Kinetiko Energy Ltd (ASX:KKO) is preparing to flow-test all three of its wells following gas shows from Korhaan 3 and 5, at the Korhaan Project in South Africa.
Notably, substantial gas shows have been encountered at Korhaan 3 when drilling reached a terminal depth of 449 metres.
At Korhaan 5, drilling had reached terminal depth at 432 metres when preliminary gas flows were intersected.
Moving forward, all three wells will now be flow-tested, with long-flow and shut-in periods envisaged as the company seeks stability of rates and pressures, with repetition for data confidence.
Drilling at Korhaan 5
After drilling the production section from 150 metres to 432 metres, preliminary gas flows were established under down-hole choked conditions.
The well was subsequently successfully logged and gas-bearing sediments detected in various layers, with early calculations showing approximately 133 metres of cumulative sand intervals measuring more than 2 metres per interval.
Drilling at Korhaan 3
The production section drilling wrapped up with terminal depth called at 449 metres after tight formations were encountered.
Gas was detected early at around 177 metres but showed strongly from 265 metres downwards, going off the scale of the inline meter (greater than 10,000 ppm) from that point onwards.
Interestingly and encouragingly, no groundwater inflow was detected during the drilling of the production section.
Flow testing imminent
Kinetiko had invested heavily in high-technology flow measuring and data acquisition equipment, which is being rigged up on the Korhaan 5 well.
Each well is expected to take eight to 10 days to test, to ensure that testing yields trustworthy information to assist geological and economic modelling.
Flowing is predicted to start on February 6, after the demobilisation operations for the rig are complete and it has left the site.
Equipment will then be moved over to both Korhaan 4 and Korhaan 3 in turn as well-testing operations continue.
