A Florida teenager responsible for Twitter accounts like @ElonJet, which is tracking and tweeting the movements of the Tesla owner, said he is also following other celebrities.
Jack Sweeney, a 19-year-old student and aviation enthusiast, said he had received aUS$5,000 offer directly from Musk to delete the account, before testing his luck and asking for ten times that, or an internship at Tesla, which subsequently led to him being blocked.
The student said he has created 16 automated Twitter accounts that follow the private jets of billionaires and celebrities, including Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and rapper Drake.
Sweeney told The Guardian he created the website, Ground Control, to allow superfans to track the movements of celebrity planes while also monetising the service and using it to host web versions of the Twitter bots should the accounts get suspended for potentially breaching privacy.
Sweeney said he tracks “either really prominent people or just like really interesting,” adding that he has recently “been adding people that his followers have requested.”
