AFC Energy had its contract to power the Extreme E all-electric SUV racing series extended to cover the 2022 season.
The fuel cell developer's "L" Series hydrogen power generator was used at all five races in the inaugural 2021 season to power the vehicles across a range of terrains on different continents.
AFC's new contract, signed yesterday, again sees its fuel cell system being commercially rented to Extreme E for the race vehicles at each of the five rounds in 2022.
Famous racing team McLaren has joined the participants this year while a race in South America will feature for the first time.
Adam Bond, AFC chief executive, said: "We are delighted to be extending our collaboration with Extreme E into 2022.
"Last year the use of our fuel cell by Extreme E prevented a significant amount of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere.
This contract is just one in a strong pipeline of system sales and lease opportunities which will underpin future revenue growth as we seek to capitalise on our position to displace diesel generators within the next decade."
