Latin Resources reports on ESG highlights for December quarter

Latin’s approach to ESG reporting revolves around a key mission statement: “Developing minerals to provide the planet with environmentally sustainable products.”

Latin Resources Ltd (ASX:LRS) has recapped its environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives across the December quarter.

The mineral exploration company, which is advancing several assets across Latin America and Australia, previously committed to make ESG disclosures in line with the World Economic Forum’s 21 core Stakeholder Capital Metrics.

Now, in its first-ever quarterly ESG disclosure report, Latin has reviewed its work across key aspects of its business, such as governance, planet, people and prosperity.

The company’s ESG purpose statement is “Developing minerals to provide the planet with environmentally sustainable products”.

You can read the full ESG disclosure report here.

About Latin Resources

Latin Resources is a minerals explorer-cum-developer at the Cloud Nine Halloysite-Kaolin Deposit, 300 kilometres east of Perth in Western Australia.

The Cloud Nine deposit has a maiden mineral resource estimate comprising 207 million tonnes of kaolinised granite, made up of 123 million tonnes of bright white kaolinite and 84 million tonnes of halloysite-bearing material.

Both of Cloud Nine’s key resources have varied properties. On the one hand, kaolinite is a plate-like clay with a wide range of uses including paper and ceramics.

In contrast, halloysite has a unique property and occurs as halloysite nanotubes (HNT) and maintains several key environmentally friendly properties.

For one, it can help manage greenhouse gases and can be mined with extremely low environmental impact.

Latin considers Cloud Nine’s development a key component of its ESG purpose statement.

As part of its evolving emissions project, the company has secured an agreement with CRC CARE Pty Ltd to develop innovative methane reduction technologies to exploit the clay mineral halloysite from Cloud Nine.

In addition, Latin is committed to developing its lithium spodumene project in Brazil.

The battery mineral is a crucial element in many of the electric vehicles and battery storage technologies that are helping decarbonise the world.
