Talon Metals hits nickel-copper mineralization outside Tamarack resource area once again, new drill results reveal

The intercept in drill hole 21TK0355 is deeper than the large sheet of nickel and copper mineralization previously reported nearby, indicating that another layer of massive mineralization could be present at this location

Talon Metals Corp has revealed new drill results from outside the current resource area on its flagship Tamarack nickel-copper-cobalt project in Minnesota that have all intercepted nickel-copper mineralization.

Highlights of the drill results include 15.08 meters (m) of mixed and massive nickel and copper mineralization at a depth of 202.86m in Hole 21TK0355; 13.77m at 250.24m; 13.25m at 245.69m; and 14.05m at 242.09m.

Drill hole 21TK0355 is a 50-meter step-out from previous drill hole 21TK0348, which intersected 13.77 meters of massive nickel-copper mineralization and is open along trend, Talon said.

The intercept in drill hole 21TK0355 is deeper than the large sheet of nickel and copper mineralization previously reported nearby, indicating that another layer of massive mineralization could be present at this location, the company added.

Talon plans to investigate the potential through more drilling in 2022.

Assays are pending on all 31 holes drilled as part of the recent program.

The US-focused company also said that disseminated nickel and copper mineralization is located above the massive and mixed massive sulphides in the Coarse-grained Orthocumulate (CGO) and Mixed Zone (MZNO) rock types. The massive mineralization sheet within the CGO West area is open to the north, to the southwest, and at depth, so 2022 drilling will focus on these areas, it added.

"Our in-house geology, geophysics and geotechnical teams go from strength to strength with the drill program at the Tamarack nickel project,” CEO Henri van Rooyen said in a statement.

“While maintaining a zealous focus on safety in a prolonged pandemic, the team is still able to deploy rigs in the right places, set records for meters drilled per day and add significantly to our understanding of the CGO West area.”

Talon is advancing Tamarack to potentially supply the rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) battery materials market.

The company is one of the only undeveloped nickel projects in the US and could be one of the only options for nickel if EV raw materials are going to be sourced domestically.
