Canaccord Genuity (TSX:CF, LSE:CF) has resumed coverage of i-80 Gold Corp with a 'Speculative Buy' rating and a C$4.50 target price, noting that the Nevada-focused company has “transformed itself” and the stock reflects low jurisdictional risk. The Canadian broker noted that over the past year, i-80 has transformed itself, disposing of non-core assets and acquiring projects that will allow it to run a hub-and-spoke operation in Northern Nevada. “IAU's portfolio now includes Lone Tree, Brooks/Buffalo Mountain, Granite Creek, McCoy-Cove, and Ruby Hill. With Lone Tree acting as the hub of its operation, i-80 intends to restart production quickly and move toward becoming a Nevada-focused mid-tier precious metal producer,” Canaccord's analysts said in a note to clients.
ION Energy Ltd said it is set to join forces with Toronto-listed Aranjin Resources Ltd on an exploration joint venture in Mongolia, which will be the largest holder of lithium and copper exploration licences in the country, and help the drive towards global electrification. ION and Aranjin will grant each other a reciprocal right to explore one another's properties, with Aranjin earning an 80% interest and ION earning 20% in all base metal projects discovered on ION's properties. And ION will earn an 80% interest and Aranjin 20% interest in all lithium projects discovered on Aranjin's properties, subject to existing royalties. The area covered by the venture comprises all rights in Mongolia currently held by both ION and Aranjin, which consists of the Sharga project, the Bayan Under project, the Baruun Tal project (pending final purchase), the Baavhai Uul project, the Urgakh Naran project and all rights acquired by each, after the date of entering the deal.
Skye Bioscience inc (OTCQB:SKYE) has announced that in a preclinical study assessing the neuroprotective properties of its SBI-100 ophthalmic nanoemulsion, the treated group demonstrated a trend of retaining the greater function of the eye’s retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) versus vehicle control. RGCs are cells that process and transmit visual information to the brain. “There is broad scientific evidence demonstrating the neuroprotective properties of cannabinoids, notably THC, and these results from our proprietary THC-based drug candidate are encouraging,” said Punit Dhillon, CEO of Skye Bioscience in a statement. The San Diego-based company said that the study was conducted using an aggressive optic nerve crush (ONC) model in rats to evaluate the neuroprotective potential of SBI-100.
Lion Copper and Gold Corp (TSX-V:LEO, OTCQB:LCGMF) has announced an agreement to spin out its option on the Butte Valley porphyry copper-gold property in Nevada to 1301666 BC Ltd, which is in late-stage negotiations with a TSX Venture listed Capital Pool Company for a possible business combination. Lion Copper and Gold said the option deal will give it an approximate 22% equity stake in the resulting listed issuer, assuming completion of financings for proceeds of about C$6 million. “The Butte Valley property options were acquired by us in 2019 as a strategic acquisition with a view to finding a partner to advance exploration. The agreement with 1301666 BC Ltd achieves this objective,” Lion Copper and Gold chairman Tom Patton said in a statement.

Highlights of the drill results include 15.08 meters (m) of mixed and massive nickel and copper mineralization at a depth of 202.86m in Hole 21TK0355; 13.77m at 250.24m; 13.25m at 245.69m; and 14.05m at 242.09m. Drill hole 21TK0355 is a 50-meter step-out from previous drill hole 21TK0348, which intersected 13.77 meters of massive nickel-copper mineralization and is open along trend, Talon said.
Midwest Energy Emissions Corp, also known as ME2C Environmental (OTCQB:MEEC) said it has secured new supply business with a licensee of its patented Sorbent Enhancement Additive (SEA) technology for mercury emissions capture. Globex Mining Enterprises Inc said it has sold the recently staked Des Herbiers uranium project near Johan-Beetz, Quebec. The company said the property, acquired in November 2021, was extensively explored by Uracan Resources Ltd (TSX-V:URC) (now Vanadian Energy Corp.), which reported a large, low grade, indicated, and inferred uranium resources. Globex has sold the 66-claim package to Australian corporation Infini Resources Private Ltd. and its wholly own Canadian subsidiary Fleur de Lys Exploration Corporation.
Canaccord Genuity (TSX:CF, LSE:CF) has resumed coverage of Karora Resources Inc with a 'Buy' rating and a C$6.25 target price, noting that the stock offers organic growth, at a good price. The Canadian broker noted that Karora (KRR) is a Western Australia-based gold producer operating the historic Beta Hunt (BH) gold-nickel mine and the Higginsville Gold Operations (HGO), which consists of a 1.6 million tonnes per annum mill and a conglomerate of open pit and underground mines. Leveraging a hub-and-spoke strategy centered around the HGO mill, the company currently produces over around 110,000 ounces of gold per year with ambitions to nearly double production by 2024, all while maintaining a strong ESG focus as evidenced by being one of the world’s first carbon-neutral miners in 2021. FPX Nickel Corp (TSX-V:FPX) said it has kicked off an internal scoping study at its Baptiste project, assessing the potential to produce a nickel product for the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market, using a process, which will cost less and be more environmentally-friendly compared to other types of projects. The study on the British Columbia property will include results from previous leaching testwork on the nickel concentrate generated from the property's ore, which confirmed Baptiste's potential to be a significant supplier of high-purity feedstock. It will focus on the fact that mineralization at Baptiste is mainly present in what is called awaruite (Ni3Fe), a nickel-iron alloy, which has a high nickel tenor (75%) and allows for an "extremely high-grade" flotation concentrate. "Baptiste's awaruite nickel mineralization has clear technical advantages over sulphide and laterite ores for producing nickel sulphate, owing to the extremely high nickel content and low levels of impurities in the nickel concentrate produced in previous metallurgical test programs," FPX's CEO Martin Turenne told investors in a statement.
XPhyto Therapeutics Corp revealed that it has executed sales contracts for its coronavirus (COVID-19) PCR test, Covid-ID Lab, with Corona Testzentren, powered by digitallifecare GmbH, and a group of pharmacies in Bamberg, Germany. The Vancouver and Germany-based bioscience accelerator said the Covid-ID Lab is a rapid test for the qualitative detection of SARS-CoV-2 based on the reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method. Personnel training and equipment installation were completed last week, and the first order of test kits has been delivered, said XPhyto. PyroGenesis Canada Inc confirmed that further to the release of its third-quarter 2021 financial results, it has submitted a C$95 million to C$115 million (US$75 million to $95 million) cost estimate for 36 plasma torches (3 megawatt) to a client. Lumina Gold Corp (TSX-V:LUM, OTCQX:LMGDF) said it has hired global engineering group Ausenco to lead the pre-feasibility study for its Cangrejos gold-copper project in Ecuador, expected to be completed in early 2023. Ausenco was responsible for the waste rock, tailings management and site infrastructure portions of the 2020 PEA and is already familiar with the Cangrejos project, the company noted. Drilling is currently continuing at Cangrejos in El Oro Province, with four rigs on site, and to date, around 4,700 metres (m) have been drilled across nine completed holes and three in progress, it added.
Falcon Gold Corp (TSX-V:FG, OTC:FGLDF) said the TSX Venture Exchange has accepted for filing an option agreement dated December 16, 2021, and amended on January 3, 2022, between the company and Excava Holding SpA. Under the terms of the agreement, the company may acquire the Viernes project, located 122 kilometres southeast of Antofagasta city in northern Chile. By way of consideration, the company will issue, over a four-year period, 500,000 shares and 500,000 warrants. Each warrant, exercisable for a period of 24 months, will entitle the vendor to purchase one common share of the company for a purchase price set on each date of issuance at 125% of the closing seven-day weighted average price, subject to a minimum floor price of 10 cents. The company will also make minimum expenditures on the property amounting to US$250,000. The property is subject to a 2% net smelter return (NSR) royalty in favour of the vendor. Following completion of the share payments and the work commitment, the company shall have an 80% interest in the property with an exclusive right to purchase the remaining 20% interest and 50% of the NSR (a 1% NSR royalty) for US$1.5 million for a period of 30 months. Upon expiry of the exclusive right, the company reserves the first right of refusal.
