Mining

Alicanto Minerals highlights Sala potential with 1,480 g/t silver and 10.3% zinc in rock chips; 413 g/t silver, 4.6% lead and 3.9% zinc in drilling

“We are well funded for 2022 with our recent $7 million capital raising and we continue to grow the boundaries of the known mineralisation at Sala. The mineralisation remains open, and we have three rigs drilling now," says MD.

Alicanto Minerals Ltd (ASX:AQI) has extended the strike length of known mineralisation at Sala Silver-Zinc-Lead-Copper-Gold Project in Sweden to more than 3 kilometres in length and 1.5 kilometres in width.

This comes after the company fielded high-grade rock chip samples of up to 1,480 g/t silver and 10.3% zinc from new areas along with drill results up to 413 g/t silver, 4.6% lead and 3.9% zinc.

Step out drilling intersected notable silver-zinc-lead intersections, extending the known mineralisation which remains open. Results include:

  • 3.5 metres at 237 g/t silver, 2.8% zinc and 4.6% lead from 488 metres;
  • 5.6 metres at 144 g/t silver, 0.1% zinc and 0.6% lead from 231.2 metres; and
  • 4.4 metres at 283 g/t silver, 3.9% zinc and 1.9% lead from 107.2 metres and 6.4 metres at 120 g/t silver, 1.3% zinc and 0.5% lead from 258.6 metres including 1.4 metres at 413 g/t silver, 2.6% zinc and 1.3% lead from 258.6 metres.

High-grade rock-chip samples have also defined multiple new silver, zinc, lead, copper and gold targets with economical potential close to existing lodes. Results include:

  • 1,480 g/t silver and 1% copper;
  • 10.3% zinc and 118 g/t silver;
  • 1.3% copper, 127 g/t silver and 0.4 g/t gold;
  • 275 g/t silver and 1% lead; and
  • 183 g/t silver and 1.5% lead.

“Results support our strategy”

Alicanto Minerals managing director Peter George said these latest results further highlighted the immense potential to establish a project with genuine scale.

“These results support our strategy to build a substantial resource at Sala with the potential to underpin a standalone operation,” George said.

“We are well funded for 2022 with our recent $7 million capital raising and we continue to grow the boundaries of the known mineralisation at Sala. The mineralisation remains open, and we have three rigs drilling now.”

Forward strategy

Alicanto says a detailed geological review of the Sala project has delineated mineralisation over a 3-kilometre strike and 1.5 kilometres of width, with similar scale to the Garpenberg mine (54.4 million tonnes produced, 89.5 million tonnes in reserve at 2.8% zinc, 1.3% lead, 94 g/t silver), just 50 kilometres to the northwest.

Previously reported high-grade silver, zinc and lead assays from Sala include:

  • 87 metres at 40 g/t silver, 5.3% zinc, and 0.3% lead;
  • 0.35 metres at 6,812 g/t silver;
  • 9.85 metres at 203 g/t silver and 6.4% zinc;
  • 0.7 metres at 844 g/t silver, 1.8% zinc and 16.3% lead;
  • 37.2 metres at 50 g/t silver and 6.1% zinc;
  • 15.9 metres at 157 g/t silver and 4.2% zinc;
  • 11.9 metres at 15 g/t silver and 8.1% zinc; and
  • 14.0 metres at 30 g/t silver, 7.6% zinc and 0.2% lead.

Alicanto is currently targeting the expansion of the Prince and Sala deposits, from which 200 million ounces of silver was mined historically.

Three drill rigs are on-site, looking to bulk-up the mineral tonnage before a new mineral resource estimate is released.
