Cyclone Metals Limited has recovered gold specimens and nuggets from test pits at the 100%-owned Nickol River Gold Project (NRP), 10 kilometres east of Karratha in the West Pilbara of Western Australia.
Earlier this month the company secured West Australian government approval for a program of works designed to test for the presence of of eluvial and alluvial gold and to investigate the surrounding bedrock.

Gold specimen retrieved
The company is now conducting its program of works, digging 18 test pits, 20 metres by 10 metres in size with a depth of one metre at tenements M47/87, M47/401, M47/127, M47/421 and M47/577, to examine the area for gold.

The vein gold indicates that primary gold is the potential source of the eluvial gold mined from the area over the past 140 years, and the nuggets also recovered from M47/127.
Commenting on the recovered gold, Cyclone Metals director Will Scott said: “It is with great pleasure I confirm that coarse gold in nugget and specimen form has been recovered from Nickol River.
“Work programs completed since the acquisition of the Nickol River Project are delivering positive results that bode well for a drill program in the near future, once we have the SAM interpretation in hand from Southern Geoscience Consultants.”
Chairman Terry Donnelly added: “The recovery of quartz gold in the test pits is fantastic news for us.
"We can collate all the data and design a suitable drilling program to commence as soon as practicable given it’s now wet season.”
