Greatland Gold PLC (AIM:GGP, OTC:GRLGF) reported more high-grade intercepts from the Havieron project in Western Australia including a new zone outside the resource defined in October's pre-feasibility study.
"The latest set of drilling results at Havieron continue to astound with the most significant intercept reported to date outside the South East Crescent zone observed at the Eastern Breccia," Shaun Day, chief executive, said.
"The results at the Eastern Breccia, several hundred meters away from the South East Crescent zone where most of the drilling activity has occurred to date, confirm the potential for a new zone of high-grade mineralisation.
“The Eastern Breccia is now interpreted as a separate north-west trending corridor with an alteration footprint of approximately 600m in strike, with Crescent zone like higher grades inside the Eastern Breccia.
The best result from this area of drilling was 62.5m at a grade of 5.9g/t from a depth of 1,546m, the statement said.
Drilling underneath the South East Crescent mineral resource to test the depth of the mineralisation also identified high grades, added Greatland, with the vertical extent now more than 900m.
Infill drilling here has now been completed, which has validated the grade and thickness said the statement.
Exploration drilling underway to the north of Havieron has so far seen one hole without significant results with assays from two more pending.
Newcrest, which is Greatland’s partner at Havieron, currently has eight drill rigs running at the site and efforts now are being focused on the Eastern Breccia, underneath the South East Crescent and several new targets.
Elsewhere, the exploration decline (mine access) has reached a depth of 277m with applications for permits to start mining underway, said Greatland.
“With drill rigs all focused on growth targets and decline construction activities operating on a 24hr schedule there is tremendous progress in the development of this world-class project and excitement in understanding the size and scale of Havieron," Day concluded.
