Kootenay Silver Inc reported positive news from the Cervantes gold-copper property in Mexico, the subject of a joint venture with Aztec Minerals Corp. (TSX-V:AZT, OTCQB:AZZTF)
Aztec has finished the first 14 holes of a planned 5,000-metre, 22-hole Phase 2 program at the property, with just over 2,800 metres drilled to date.
The program will test four main targets in a bid to better define the open pit, heap leach gold potential of the porphyry oxide cap at the California gold-copper target and understand the potential for deeper copper-gold porphyry sulfide mineralization.

Kootenay and Aztec are also planning to test the north and west extensions of the California mineralization at the California North and Jasper areas, and assess the breccia pipe potential of Purisma East.
Cervantes is a highly prospective porphyry gold-copper property in southeastern Sonora state that lies within the prolific Laramide porphyry copper belt approximately 265 kilometres southeast of the Cananea porphyry copper-molybdenum mine owned by Grupo Mexico.
Once the drill program is completed, the firm will start channel sampling and geologic mapping of the newly cut drill roads at California, California Norte and Jasper, and expand surface sampling and mapping on the property in general to continue the 2021 Phase 1 surface program.
Kootenay Silver is an exploration company actively engaged in the discovery and development of mineral projects in the Sierra Madre Region of Mexico and in British Columbia, Canada.
