HighGold Mining kicks off 8,000-metre Phase 2 drill program at the Munro-Croseus project in Ontario

The program will test existing targets near the Croseus gold mine and do initial drilling at new targets on the property

HighGold (TSX-V:HIGH, OTCQX:HGGOF) Mining Inc has kicked off its Phase 2 winter drill session at the Munro-Croseus project in Timmins with an 8,000-metre program.

The program, which is expected to take around eight to 10 weeks to complete, will test existing targets near the Croseus gold mine and do initial drilling at new targets on the property.

It is the first time in almost a century that a consolidated Munro-Croesus land package will be evaluated under the banner of one company, CEO Darwin Green said in a statement.

“The extremely high-grade nature of the Croesus Vein at an average grade of 95.3 grams per ton (g/t) gold, and the similarities of our other targets to neighbouring operating mines and deposits make this a very exciting opportunity for HighGold (TSX-V:HIGH, OTCQX:HGGOF).”

Some of the planned meterage will also be reserved for potential follow-up drilling on the #2 and #4 vein prospects that were tested during the Phase 1 program conducted late last year, which totaled 4,321 meters in 24 holes. Initial assay results are due to come later in the first quarter of 2022.

Munro-Croesus is located along Highway 101 in the Abitibi greenstone belt that spans Ontario and Quebec. The project covers 47 square kilometres of highly prospective geology situated between the Black Fox Mine Complex operated by McEwen Mining and the Fenn-Gib gold deposit being developed by Mayfair Gold Corp.
