American Manganese Inc. (TSX-V:AMY, OTCQB:AMYZF) reported that it has hired UK-based consultant Minviro Ltd to carry out a so-called life cycle assessment (LCA) of its battery recycling-upcycling process called RecycLiCo.
LCAs are a standardized study and provide details of a project's environmental footprint to help guide transparent discussions on such issues as climate change, carbon neutralization, water use impacts and human health.
The work will involve a "complete 'gate-to-gate' life cycle impact assessment" of the firm's process, which upcycles battery waste into cathode precursor material and under International Organization for Standardization (ISO) compliance, results will be reviewed by third-party experts in industry and academia.

"Environmental responsibility is a fundamental part of all businesses in the lithium-ion battery space, and it will become increasingly essential if regulators introduce legislation for mandatory environmental footprint declarations," said Larry Reaugh, the CEO of American Manganese in a statement.
"Therefore, our mission is not only to achieve the highest recycling efficiency of waste battery material but to also produce battery materials with the highest environmental performance of any battery material produced. Minviro is a London-based and globally recognized consultancy, which specializes in life cycle assessments in the technology metal space.
