Julian Lennon, son of Beatle John Lennon, is to sell Fab Four memorabilia from his private collection via auction on a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace.
Well, sort of.
The items themselves are not up for auction; each item will be offered as an audio/visual collectible.
The memorabilia includes the Afghan coat John Lennon wore in the Magical Mystery Tour film, the cape he wore in the film Help, three guitars – two Gibson Les Pauls and a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior – plus some notes written by Paul McCartney pertaining to the Beatles’ song, Hey Jude, which was written to cheer Julian Lennon up at the time his parents were divorcing.
The bidding is already open and will end at 2:00am GMT on 7 February. If you fancy your chances in the auction, the bidding currently stands as follows:
- Afghan coat: US$6,000
- Black cape: US$8,000
- Black Gibson Les Paul: US$4,000
- Brown Gibson Les Paul: US$4,000
- Les Paul Junior: US$4,000
- Hey Jude notes: US$30,000.
Some of the proceeds will go to Julian Lennon’s White Feather Foundation, which will use the funds to purchase carbon removal from Nori in the form of Nori Carbon Removal Tonnes.
