Anti-microbial resistance (AMR) and the decreasing effect of antibiotics today are a significant and growing global problem, according to a large study of the impact of AMR published in the Lancet had concluded.

The study found that more than 1.2mln people died worldwide in 2019 from infections caused by bacteria resistant to antibiotics, in other words infections that were previously treatable but now the bacteria that cause them have become resistant to treatment.

Caledonia Mining Corporation PLC (AIM:CMCL, NYSE-A:CMCL) said that chief operating officer Dana Roets has joined the board with immediate effect.

Having been in the COO role since 2013, he will continue in this role following his appointment, the company said in a statement.

Ilika PLC (AIM:IKA, OTCQX:ILIKF) said it continued to develop and progress its Stereax and Goliath product lines as the pioneer in solid-state battery technology ended its half year with £27.7mln of cash and cash equivalents.

The company opened its Stereax solid-state battery manufacturing facility in Chandlers Ford in December, allowing it to manufacture its micro batteries designed to power medical devices and industrial wireless sensors (IIoT) in hostile environments.

Ora Banda Mining Ltd (ASX:OBM) has made a significant stride forward with its operational performance at the Davyhurst Gold Project in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia during the December 2021 quarter.
