Guild Esports to set up gaming academy and global headquarters in London

Co-owner David Beckham says he is “really excited” by the news

Guild Esports PLC (LSE:GILD, OTC:GULDF) said it signed a 10-year property lease to create its “Guild Academy” and corporate headquarters in Shoreditch, London.

Expected to open in the second quarter, the building will house the company’s academy and “complement and support the world's most comprehensive and innovative online training portal,” a statement said.

The teams and organisation lifestyle brand said the premises will open commercialisation, branding and sponsorship opportunities, with negotiations over naming rights with sponsors under way.

"In addition to nurturing new talent and providing state of the art training grounds for our pro teams, we also expand upon brand recognition and unlock a range of commercialisation opportunities, which we look forward to realising in due course,” said Kal Hourd, chief executive.

The London-listed company says the headquarter will house content and editing facilities, streaming rooms to drive content production, a “partner activation area” and a Guild merchandise shop.

The academy is modelled on the youth set-up of Premier League clubs and will include esports training rooms, equipment and gaming spaces, Guild Esports said in the statement.

A specialist fitness physio and psyche room will be available to support Guild player’s mental and physical health, the statement said.

Shares in Guild Esports were up 4.5%, trading at 3p.
