Golden Rim Resources expects to grow Kada gold resource with further broad results returned

The company's bounty continues to grow as it prepares to define its maiden mineral resource estimate, with 30 metres at 0.8 g/t gold among highlights.

Golden Rim Resources Ltd (ASX:GMR) has found more gold during the second round of resource definition drilling at the Kada Gold Project in Guinea with further broad results expected to enhance the planned maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE).

The campaign has taken in 46 drill holes over 6,796 metres with assays received for 18 reverse circulation (RC) drill holes totalling 2,541 metres.

Highlights

“Results from holes KRC028-37 are particularly encouraging as they have identified continuous mineralisation beyond the resource area outlined by Newmont and represent an opportunity to significantly increase the overall size of Golden Rim’s MRE,” managing director Craig Mackay said.

The bounty continues to grow, with the 18 RC holes returning promising assay results:

  • 30 metres at 0.8 g/t gold from 60 metres, including 14 metres at 1.3 g/t from 60 metres and 6 metres at 3.3 g/t from 115 metres, including 1-metre at 12.3 g/t from 115 metres;
  • 9 metres at 1.9 g/t from 27 metres and 13 metres at 1.1 g/t from 48 metres;
  • 18 metres at 0.8 g/t from 136 metres (hole ended in mineralisation);
  • 9 metres at 2.6 g/t from 71 metres; and
  • 9 metres at 2.9 g/t from 44 metres, including 4 metres at 5.7 g/t from 48 metres and 5 metres at 2.0 g/t from 85 metres (ended in mineralisation).

The best new gold intersections are predominantly located east and west of previous drilling in fully or partially oxidised material.

Drilling continues to define multiple, broad, subparallel zones of gold mineralisation – the consistency of the mineralisation between drill holes gives the company confidence in the continuous nature of gold at Kada.

Further assays pending

“The resource definition drilling at Kada is now complete and we are waiting on the assays for the last 17 holes,” Mackay said.

“We expect to deliver the maiden mineral resource estimate during February 2022, an impressive achievement given we acquired an interest in the project 12 months ago.

“After successfully delineating the high-grade central core at Kada, our resource definition drilling then moved north and south to expand the resource beyond the original Newmont resource drilling.

“Following completion of the resource definition drilling, we have subsequently commenced our exploration RC drilling along the Kada gold corridor and we have a number of exciting target areas to test that have the potential to add more ounces to the Kada gold inventory moving forward.”

More ounces for MRE

The company’s resource-definition drilling program continues to identify additional gold mineralisation beyond Golden Rim’s preliminary grade shell modelling and represents an opportunity to add significant ounces to the upcoming maiden JORC-compliant MRE.

This MRE is now scheduled for February 2022, after the remaining drilling assays have been received and included in the calculations.

What’s next?

With the completion of the resource definition drilling, the company is now conducting exploration reverse circulation (RC) drilling along the Kada gold corridor, with 2,450 metres of drilling planned.

Plan view of current resource definition drilling (purple) as well as near-resource exploration drilling (white) targeting historic Newmont drill results and anomalous Golden Rim auger drill results.

Drilling will test the more highly anomalous bedrock gold areas along the 15-kilometre corridor, that extends either side of the Newmont gold resource area.

The first bedrock gold area to be tested lies 600 metres north of the resource area where a historical Newmont drill hole ended with an intercept of 35 metres at 0.8 g/t from 157 metres, including 8 metres at 2.3 g/t from 167 metres, which has not been followed-up to date.

In addition, Golden Rim’s auger drilling in this area has returned highly anomalous results up to 1,258 ppb gold.

The company’s second round of auger drilling will extend coverage beyond the Kada gold corridor into the southern portion of the Bamfele permit. The eastern portion of the Kada permit is due for completion soon, with results expected in February.

Representative samples of drill core (635 kilograms) from Kada have recently arrived in Perth for metallurgical testing with these results expected in March 2022.
