Red River Resources set to grow Thalanga after Liontown satellite find, including 86 metres at 2.3% zinc equivalent

The Cougartown and Cougartown West prospects look set to add to the company's pipeline with drilling confirming high-grade zinc close to the Liontown Project.

Red River Resources Limited (ASX:RVR) has struck zinc during reverse circulation drilling at three exploration prospects - Cougartown, Cougartown West and Max Copper Gold - near its Liontown Project, part of its Thalanga Operations in north Queensland.

A mineral resource is being defined at Liontown as RVR aims to develop it as the third deposit to be mined at its Thalanga operations and results of up to 86 metres at 2.3% zinc equivalent support these plans.

The plan is for these Liontown satellite prospects to provide additional feed to the process plant at Thalanga.

Successful drilling program

Red River completed 5,697 metres of drilling at Liontown, with results reported last year, and 1,928 metres of drilling on the Cougartown, Cougartown West and Max Copper Gold satellite prospects, which delivered the following results:

  • At Cougartown – 86 metres at 2.3% zinc equivalent from 0 metres; 43 metres at 1.6% zinc equivalent from 55 metres; and 18 metres at 1.6% zinc equivalent from 101 metres and 16 metres at 1.7% zinc equivalent from 142 metres.
  • At Cougartown West – 40 metres at 3.0% zinc equivalent from 67 metres.

The company is planning drilling for Max Copper Gold East and other satellite targets around Liontown that may increase mill feed to Thalanga.

Liontown has a current mineral resource of 4.1 million tonnes at 0.6% copper, 1.9% lead, 5.9% zinc, 1.1 g/t gold and 29 g/t silver (12.7% zinc equivalent).
