Pan African Resources gold production hits new record

Output rose by 9.9% to 108,000oz in the six months to end December 2021

Pan African Resources PLC (AIM:PAF, OTCQX:PAFRY, JSE:PAN, OTCQX:PAFRF) produced a record amount of gold in its latest half-year and reiterated its target of 200,000oz for the current twelve months.

Output rose by 9.9% to 108,000oz in the six months to end December 2021, largely driven by a 117% increase at Evander as the mine's underground operation hit unexpectedly high grades.

Cobus Loots, chief executive, said it was an excellent operating performance from the South Africa-based miner during the period.

Production “exceeded the 105,000oz forecast in the group’s December 2021 production update and was achieved while continuing to manage the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and maintaining an excellent safety record,” he said.

Debt is continuing to fall with net senior debt now at US$23.9mln or a 60% reduction from a year ago, added Loots.

A new 10Mw solar power electricity plant at Evander will come on stream in February, he said, with the miner assessing whether to expand the plant to 26Mw.

Assessment studies on the newly acquired Blyvoor tailings dump are also underway while a definitive feasibility study on Mogale Gold’s tailings is close to being finalised.
