Strickland Metals in bright start to new year with Dusk til Dawn gold extensions

Resource remodelling is being carried out with an updated estimate expected in the coming weeks while results have also opened up two corridors with up to 20 look-a-like targets.

Strickland Metals Ltd (ASX:STK) has extended gold mineralisation at the Dusk til Dawn prospect of its Yandal Project through a drilling program that is set to enhance a mineral resource update due next month.

Results from the 2021 reverse circulation (RC) drilling program are being included in resource remodelling being used to update the 108,900-ounce Dusk til Dawn resource.

The best results are 10 metres at 3.1 g/t gold from 314 metres and 11 metres at 2.0 g/t, including 5 metres at 3.2 g/t, from 249 metres.

Target zones intersected

Chief executive officer Andrew Bray said these holes represented the balance of the results from the 2021 RC program at the Dusk til Dawn prospect.

“The drilling has confirmed the company’s reinterpretation of the mineralisation at the prospect, with all holes intersecting the targeted zones where predicted,” he said.

“Remodelling of the mineralisation is underway, with an updated mineral resource expected in early February 2022.”

Providing further encouragement for Strickland, the latest results open up two new corridors with up to 20 look-a-like targets within a strike of around 10 kilometres.

Look-a-like targets

"Most excitingly, our growing understanding of the mineralisation in this area opens up a tremendous opportunity to intersect repeats of this style of mineralisation. There are 20 look-a-like targets within ~10 kilometres of strike in the immediate surrounding region,” Bray said.

"Six of these look-a-like targets were drilled prior to the RC program concluding in December 2021, with all holes intersecting the targeted alteration zones. Due to ongoing laboratory delays, the results from these initial holes are not due until mid-February 2022.”

Other new results are 5 metres at 1.0 g/t gold from 255 metres and 6 metres at 1.3 g/t from 262 metres.

These results are down dip from previous results released to the ASX on November 30, 2021, as part of the same RC program and which included:

  • 33 metres at 3.6 g/t gold from 61 metres;
  • 12 metres at 2.5 g/t within 24 metres at 1.6 g/t from 196 metres;
  • 10 metres at 1.9 g/t within 32 metres at 1.2 g/t from 120 metres;
  • 11 metres at 2.0 g/t from 157 metres; and
  • 6 metres at 2.4 g/t within 9 metres at 1.8 g/t from 179 metres.

All holes have intersected the modelled alteration zone where predicted and the results confirm the company’s new interpretation of the mineralised plunge at Dusk til Dawn.

This developing understanding bodes very well for further discoveries in the surrounding terrain given the effectiveness of the current set of geophysical and geochemical techniques used.

Resource update

Work is ongoing for the remodelling the Dusk til Dawn mineral resource, which stands at 3,495,600 tonnes at 1.0 g/t gold for 108,900 ounces.

Strickland believes that correctly orientating the mineralised plunge will potentially lead to a material increase in both grade and tonnage.

The results of this remodelling should demonstrate the potential to build a substantial mineralised inventory in the immediate surrounding region should the nearby ‘look-a-like’ targets also be mineralised.

Nearby exploration

A total of six holes for 1,464 metres were drilled to test six regional geophysical ‘look-a-like’ targets prior to the RC program concluding on December 19, 2021.

All holes intersected varying degrees of potassic alteration, suggesting strong potential for repeats of the Dusk til Dawn gold mineralisation.

Confirmation of the company's new understanding of the Dusk til Dawn gold mineralisation opens up an exciting part of the northern Yandal gold belt region.

Strickland re-logged the historic drilling in the area and identified a large alteration corridor to the north and south of Dusk til Dawn. A similar alteration corridor has also been identified on the parallel Big Daddy trend to the east.

Within the newly identified alteration corridors, there are up to 20 ‘look-a-like’ gravity features which the company now believes could be suggestive of areas of more intense alteration. Strickland says that if the Dusk til Dawn model repeats throughout both corridors, "it is potentially an exciting discovery and demonstrates a project with very large-scale potential".
