Aurion Resources (TSX-V:AU) Ltd said that new drill results from the Aamurusko prospect on its Risti project has expanded the gold mineralized envelope on the Finland-located property.
Results from 11 of the 17 holes drilled at Aamurusko included 70.1 grams per ton (g/t) gold over 0.70 metres (m) and 11.99 g/t over 2.6m, and 27.6 g/t gold over 0.70m.
Multiple broad zones of gold mineralization at the northwest (NW) and Gap zones expanded the mineralized envelope, Aurion told shareholders.

Broad zones with alteration and deformation associated with elevated gold grades expand the mineralized domain along strike and with depth, the firm added.
Aurion sunk nearly 3,600m as part of a diamond core drilling program to test the gold potential of several structures in the NW and Gap zones at Aamurusko during the fall and winter of 2021.
The company noted that it had designed a reusable blast mat road made of recycled tires, along with drilling firm Kati Oy, which has allowed Aurion to eliminate the requirement for helicopter assisted drilling at Aamurusko. As a result, the drilling costs have been reduced and the technical performance has improved “significantly”, according to Aurion.
"This was a decent campaign for Aamurusko. The hit rate remains high as all holes intersected gold mineralized zones and expanded the mineralized envelopes at the NW and Gap Zones," Matti Talikka, Aurion's CEO, said in a statement.
“While we have not yet discovered a new high-grade domain we did intersect broad disseminated zones of mineralization which have the potential to be economic, and we succeeded in reducing drilling costs by approximately 60%,” the CEO said.
More results coming soon
Aurion will continue drilling with a couple of rigs throughout the year to test Aamurusko and other targets within its 100% owned properties, as well as its joint venture, Helmi, with B2Gold.
“Our strong working capital position provides us with a flexibility to increase the scale of the exploration program in response to significant results,” Talikka added.
Further results from the Helmi joint venture are expected shortly.
Newfoundland-based Aurion's current focus is exploring on its flagship Risti and Launi projects, as well as advancing its joint venture properties with B2Gold and Kinross in Finland.
