Volta Trucks has been selected by Clipper Logistics PLC (LSE:CLG) to provide zero-emissions deliveries to retailers in London’s Regent Street.
Clipper will use Volta‘s Zero EVs to pick up deliveries from its warehouse to service its contract as distribution provider for the Queen’s Crown Estate’s portfolio in London, which spans 10mln sq ft and includes half of St James as well as Regent Street.
The Zero trucks have a range of 95-125 miles and can load 8.6 tonnes worth of goods, eliminating the need for smaller vans and reducing congestion within the city.
A trial is to take place this summer, with the offer extending to workplace, retail, dining, leisure, and residential sectors that fall within the area.
Mick Doe, transport operations director at Clipper added, “The partnership demonstrates Clipper’s agility and logistics ability by working to combat congestion and environmental impact in one of the world’s busiest retail areas.”
Essa Al-Saleh, chief executive officer of Volta Trucks, said: “The full-electric Volta Zero is specifically designed for zero-emission urban distribution with exactly The Crown Estate and Clipper Logistics’ use case in mind.”
