Freetrade today stepped up the battle for young traders as it announced a deal to give its clients fee-free access to the German stock markets Equiduct and Cboe.
Freetrade, which has over 1mln customers, lets people trade shares for free on its app-only platform and will provide its customers with access to most German stocks with no commission or charges, just foreign exchange fees.
Adam Dodds, chief executive, and founder said: “The addition of European stocks to the platform is a key step for us as we begin our expansion into Europe and beyond.
“Our mission is to get everyone investing while keeping prices low.”
Adidas, BMW, Mercedes, Puma, Siemens, and Deutsche Telekom are all listed on the Deutsche Boerse and will be available to traders using the app.
Freetrade was set up in 2016 and already offers Finnish trades and intends to expand further into Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, and The Netherlands soon, it said.
Trading in European stocks is possible through most platforms and broking houses, but the difference is that this often incurs fees in both countries, Freetrade said.
“Freetrade’s unique direct-to-market access and proprietary brokerage platform helps to unlock cost-savings that we can pass onto our customers through a simple and low-cost investment experience,” Dodds added.
