Panthera Resources reveals Kalaka drill results

Drilling in December was aimed to confirm targets for future exploration.

Panthera Resources PLC (AIM:PAT) has now received assay results from its drill programme at the Kalaka project, in southwestern Mali, where it completed 2,430 metres of drilling in December.

A total of 94 AC drill holes were completed to define targets for follow up reverse circulation drill programme. The company noted that five of twenty identified targets were tested in the programme and all them saw anomalous gold intersected.

Highlight drill results included measurements between 143 and 343 parts per billion gold, across 5 to 30 metres.

Managing director Mark Bolton noted that extensive historic gold mineralisation has been identified by previous explorers at Kalaka - with grades of 0.54 grams per tonne over 249 metres which included 8 metres at 3.17 g/t.

“This relatively shallow geochemical targeting approach has worked, despite not identifying gold grades higher than those found at the K1A prospect, to date,” Bolton said.

“Accordingly, it represents and exploration approach that may be expanded in order to classify and rank deeper, RC drill targets for future programmes."
