ANGLE technology used in lung cancer drug resistance study

Researchers in Greece used the company's Parsortix liquid biopsy to harvest tumour cells for analysis

Scientists at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens used ANGLE PLC (AIM:AGL, OTCQX:ANPCY)’s liquid biopsy system to assess why non-small lung cancer patients become resistant to treatment.

The Parsortix liquid biopsy was used to harvest circulating tumour cells for DNA analysis to find the molecular mechanisms that lead to the progression of the disease. The team assessed the ongoing efficacy of AstraZeneca's Tagrisso.

Researcher, Professor Evi Lianidou, said: "Whilst the prolonged survival of patients who benefit from targeted therapies is proven, in most cases resistance arises inevitably and the identification of the molecular mechanisms that lead to the progression of disease is crucial for the appropriate sequential treatment.”
