Red Rock Resources PLC (AIM:RRR) released what it called “extremely encouraging” results for nine drill holes at the Mikei Gold Project (MGP) in Kenya.
Seven of the nine holes intercepted gold mineralisation and five of those were described as having good grades.
A total of 20 holes were drilled at MGP in a Phase 1 drill programme aimed at the mid KKM prospect. The results for the other eleven holes are due later as a more powerful compressor was required.
“A comprehensive picture of the results of the programme awaits the results of the final eleven holes, including some deeper holes,” said chairman Andrew Bell.
“However, these first nine holes were extremely encouraging, and take us some way towards our objectives for the programme.”
The Red Rock boss noted that the Mikei programme was designed to test possible extensions of the mineralised zones and to infill some possible gaps where holes may be too far apart to allow assumptions mineralisation continuity in any resource calculation.
Highlight drill results from the first nine holes included grades of up to 1.37 grams per tonne gold over 4 metres. Smaller 1 metre sections saw grades up to 3.75 g/t).
