Synairgen PLC (AIM:SNG, OTC:SYGGF) has announced a partnership with Ashfield Engage, a specialist in strategic engagement and commercialisation in the healthcare sector, as it advances the SNG001 antiviral product for the treatment of COVID-19.
Ashfield will support the company as it builds commercialisation infrastructure for the needs of SNG001, Ashfield said in a statement, initially in the US, pending completion of pivotal trials and regulatory authorisations.
SNG001, an investigational inhaled formulation of an antiviral protein, is seen as a potential new treatment for Covid-19. In November, the company completed enrolment of 610 patients for a Phase 3 trial, with top-line data due in early 2022.
"There remains an urgent need for new therapies to treat hospitalised COVID-19 patients in order to prevent disease progression, accelerate hospital discharge and enable patients to quickly resume their usual activities," Synairgen chief commercial officer Richard Hennings.
"We are excited to be working with Ashfield Engage given their relevant COVID-19 experience and are confident they understand our needs and values as we build the optimal team."
