Golden Tag Resources poised for diamond drill restart at San Diego project in Mexico

Golden Tag Resources Ltd has told investors that diamond drilling at its San Diego project in Mexico is expected to get going within days after the work paused at year-end.

The now expanded 4,500-metre (m) program is following up on 4,716m of drilling, which were completed and reported in the first half of last year.

In the fourth quarter of last year, 1,675 samples were sent to the lab and assays from the first hole are expected shortly, the company noted.

Among the highlights of the first phase 2021 drilling was the discovery of the 1849 Zone with one hole hitting 116.76 grams per ton (g/t) silver-equivalent over 66.04m. That was in a broader interval of 91.86 g/t silver-equivalent over 134.37m, confirming the mineralization trend between historic holes, which extends over a 500m vertical depth.

There was also the discovery of the Trovador Structural Zone (TSZ) and new high-grade skarn zones above the Fernandez Zone, which itself was extended.

Also discovered was a new near-surface epithermal mineralization, now known as the 57 Target, with the intersection of 75.89 g/t silver-equivalent in one hole over 273.65 m commencing near surface, Golden Tag noted.

In addition, infill sampling of a historic hole resulted in a 10% increase in the reported grade of the mineralization within the Fernandez Zone to 101.96 g/t silver-equivalent over 298.02m.

Toronto-based Golden Tag Resources considers the San Diego project to be one of Mexico’s largest undeveloped silver assets, with an estimated indicated resource of 31.6 million silver ounces at an average grade of 60 g/t and 438 million pounds of zinc, along with an Inferred silver resource of 83.8 million ounces at 62 g/t and 1.2 billion pounds of zinc.

The resource estimate, completed in 2013, is based on 59 holes totaling 33,000m
