Context Therapeutics Inc is beefing up its research and development team with the appointments of two new executives.
Christopher Beck will take on the role of senior vice president of operations and Mark Fletcher will be the firm’s new vice president of research and development, according to a statement from the company.

“Context is in a pivotal phase of growth and change as we near key inflection points with our pipeline, bolstered by our recent private placement and initial public offering,” CEO Martin Lehr told investors. “As part of Context’s leadership, Mr Beck and Dr Fletcher will help guide Context’s R&D operations, leveraging their proven knowledge, capabilities, and leadership skills to help Context achieve its product development objectives.”
Both executives have extensive experience in the biotech sphere. Beck previously held senior roles at Galera, Shire, Merck, and AstraZeneca, and holds a BS from Drexel University as well as an MBA from Penn State University.
Fletcher has also worked extensively in research and development in executive roles at Pharmaceutical Associates Inc, Hikma Pharmaceutical, and Douglas Pharmaceuticals. He holds a BS in pharmacy and an MS and PhD in industrial pharmacy from the University of Maryland.
In addition, Context announced the planned retirement of its current Head of CMC, Bill Rencher, who will move into an advisory role.
“We celebrate Dr Rencher’s distinguished pharmaceutical career and wish him well on his much deserved retirement Lehr added. “As we start 2022, we’re pleased with the strong team we’ve assembled to advance our lead product candidate onapristone extended release (ONA-XR) in breast, ovarian, and endometrial cancers, as well as our preclinical anti-claudin 6 bispecific antibody.”
