Faron Pharmaceuticals Ltd announced the appointment of Marie-Louise Fjällskog as chief medical officer with immediate effect.
Dr Fjällskog joins the clinical stage biopharmaceutical company with over 30 years of experience in clinical oncology, translational research and drug development.
At Faron, Dr Fjällskog is tasked with accelerating the company’s clinical development programmes, with her primary focus being bexmarilimab, its own novel precision cancer immunotherapy candidate.
She joins from Nasdaq-listed Sensei Biotherapeutics, where she was responsible for leading clinical and development strategy and operations, playing a key role in the company’s IPO in February last year.
Dr Markku Jalkanen, chief executive officer of Faron, said: "With her extensive experience in oncology clinical development she is expertly positioned to help advance our plans and progress development of what we hope will be the first macrophage-targeting immunotherapy for patients with hard-to-treat cancers."
Dr Fjällskog added that she was looking forward to “helping accelerate the development of bexmarilimab as both a monotherapy and in combination with other checkpoint inhibitors, which is likely to further amplify the clinical benefit seen with bexmarilimab alone”.
