LexaGene Holdings kicks off the year with additional sales of its flagship MiQLab Systems

The molecular diagnostics company said its MiQLab delivers “excellent sensitivity, specificity, and breadth of detection,” and can return results in around two hours

LexaGene Holdings Inc (TSX-V:LXG, OTCQB:LXXGF), a molecular diagnostics company that has commercialized an instrument for automated multiplex PCR testing, announced three additional purchase orders for MiQLab Systems from veterinary clinics in Michigan, Minnesota, and New York.

In a statement, Julie Griggs, who is global director of sales at LexaGene, said: “My team is diligently engaged with numerous veterinary practices, both private and corporate. Many of the veterinarians we have spoken to share our excitement over the value of in-clinic PCR testing and the capabilities that the MiQLab System can provide to their practices.

“It is gratifying to welcome 2022 with a strong start and continue our momentum as we work on closing additional sales.”

The Beverly, Massachusetts-based company noted that its MiQLab System delivers “excellent sensitivity, specificity, and breadth of detection”, and can return results in around two hours. The unique open-access feature is designed for custom testing so that users can load their own real-time PCR assays onto the instrument to target any genetic target of interest.

Meanwhile, LexaGene founder and CEO Dr Jack Regan said he is “pleased” that the company is making headway in the veterinary diagnostics market.

“By acquiring MiQLab Systems, veterinary practices are setting themselves apart from their competition, as this technology allows them to elevate the standard of care they provide to companion animals,” said Dr Regan. “We look forward to educating veterinary practices in the coming year, regarding the importance of in-clinic PCR testing, and aim to revolutionize veterinary diagnostics through the sale of MiQLab Systems.”

He noted that veterinary practices no longer have to empirically diagnose companion animals or send samples off to labs "only to wait days or weeks for results when they can have a treatment plan in a fraction of the time”.

LexaGene is participating in the upcoming Veterinary Meeting and Expo (VMX) in Orlando, Florida, where more than 6,500 veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and practice managers will gather in mid-January. On January 16, 2022, Dr Regan will make a presentation on 'In-Clinic PCR Testing for Pathogen and Resistance Detection', at 9:00 am in the VMX Learning Theater.
