Brookside Energy readies to drill horizontal section of high-impact Rangers Well

The curve was landed as planned at a measured depth of 10,260 feet in the target Sycamore Formation and preparations are being made to drill the 7,500 feet of lateral (horizontal) section.

Brookside Energy Ltd (ASX:BRK) has reached the designed measured depth of 10,260 feet in the Sycamore target formation in Oklahoma with the high-impact Rangers 36-25 SXH 1 Well and preparations are underway for the horizontal section.

Rangers is the company’s second well in the SWISH Area of Interest within the South Central Oklahoma Oil Province (SCOOP) of the world-class Anadarko Basin.

The well is operated by Black Mesa Energy, a controlled subsidiary of Brookside, and is being drilled by Kenai Drilling Company. Tulsa-based Black Mesa is an experienced mid-continent operator that identifies opportunities and executes development for Brookside.

Targeting Sycamore Formation

Rangers is being drilled as a mid-length horizontal well targeting the Sycamore Formation at an average depth of approximately 9,750 feet with operations proceeding on schedule, safely and without incident.

The well will be drilled to a projected measured depth of about 17,750 feet, with around 7,500 feet of lateral (horizontal) section drilled in the Sycamore that will subsequently be cased with production tubing to be perforated and treated to allow production of oil and rich gas.

The location of the Rangers Well and Brookside’s three operated SWISH AOI DSUs.

Curve landed as planned

In a new update, Brookside advises that the Rangers Well curve successfully landed in the Sycamore Formation at the designed depth and the intermediate casing has been set and cemented.

The curve was landed as planned at a measured depth of 10,260 feet in the target formation.

As of 7:30 am CDT on December 29, 2021, operations were underway to trip out of the hole to pick-up the assembly required for drilling of the lateral portion of the wellbore.

Once this is complete Kenai Drilling will drill ahead in the horizontal section of the wellbore.
