GTI Resources receives further encouraging results from Thor ISR uranium property

“We’re delighted with the performance of the geological team and the drill crew in Wyoming, and we look forward to more good results after the Christmas break,” says executive director.

GTI Resources Ltd (ASX:GTR) has completed another 15 drill holes at the Thor in-situ recovery (ISR) uranium project in Wyoming’s Great Divide Basin.

The explorer is in the middle of a 100-hole drilling campaign at the uranium property, where it has completed 39 holes to date.

Of those, 19 have met or exceeded a grade thickness (GT) cut-off, averaging 0.60 GT.

GTI maintains that results continue to exceed its expectations, with 49% of the holes to date recording better than the minimum targeted, economic 0.2 GT cut-off.

The first phase of drilling at Thor concluded on December 17, with the balance of holes slated for execution in early 2022.

“An exciting year ahead”

Speaking to the progress to date, GTI executive director Bruce Lane said results from the first batch of drill holes at Thor had exceeded the company’s expectations.

“The mineralisation encountered so far shows strong potential for development with a well mineralised and consistent thickness of ISR-amenable sands starting around 100 feet below the water table.

“We’re delighted with the performance of the geological team and the drill crew in Wyoming, and we look forward to more good results after the Christmas break.

“The outlook for 2022 is very positive and it promises to be an exciting year for GTI.”

Drilling program

GTI has completed the first 39 holes to date at Thor, covering slightly more than 5,700 metres, across the Area 1 and Area 2 targets.

The typical, economically viable ISR grade and GT cut-offs include 200 parts per million (ppm) triuranium octoxide (U3O8) and 0.2 GT.

Drilling is now largely complete in the initial drilling areas to the northeast and the southeast, and GTI maintains that results continue to show promise and confirm that historical data is a strong guide for the drilling program.

As it continues the campaign in the new year, the explorer hopes to identify REDOX boundaries and potential host sands at Thor.

It’s also out to define the depth, thickness, grade and width of mineralisation along the REDOX front — an activity that could ultimately help GTI estimate inferred mineral resources and/or an exploration target at the uranium property.

Looking ahead, final results, conclusions and recommendations for the company’s next steps will be developed at the end of the drill program in the new year.
