Latin Resources Ltd (ASX:LRS) has identified further high-grade halloysite with good continuity, within kaolinised granite from the Cloud Nine mineral resource area at the company’s wholly-owned Noombenberry Kaolin-Halloysite project in Western Australia.
The Noombenberry Project holds a JORC-compliant inferred mineral resource of 207 million tonnes of kaolinised granite at Cloud Nine deposit which includes separate domains containing 123 million tonnes of bright-white kaolinite and 84 million tonnes of kaolin/halloysite-bearing material.
LRS says these most recent halloysite results further demonstrate the consistent nature of the high-grade halloysite bearing material within the area tested, strengthening Noombenberry’s position as a globally significant halloysite project.
High-grade halloysite results were received from the next 14 holes in the geostatistical cross-drilling program, with intersections including:
- 9 metres at 18% halloysite from 28 metres to end of hole (EOH) including 2 metres at 47% halloysite from 28 metres;
- 18 metres at 17% from 24 metres to EOH;
- 19 metres at 23.4% from 13 metres including 2 metres at 50% from 19 metres;
- 6 metres at 18% from 7 metres and 13 metres at 19% from 19 metres including 2 metres at 30% from 19 metres;
- 3 metres at 18% from 3 metres and 15 metres at 21% from 10 metres;
- 16 metres at 25% from 9 metres to EOH; and
- 9 metres at 36% from 14 metres to EOH.
Next steps for Cloud Nine
Several assays for drill holes are still pending, with initial desktop scoping studies underway, including detailed metallurgic test-work, updating of the geological model and other similar preliminary studies.
This work, coupled with drilling programs that will continue into Q1 2022, is designed to drive an update to the JORC mineral resource estimate for Cloud Nine and potentially to increase confidence levels to the indicated or possibly measured category.
As part of the resource estimate for the Cloud Nine kaolin–halloysite deposit, LRS’ resource consultants, RSC and its partners, developed a novel machine learning (ML) algorithm, which provides a cost- and time-efficient quantification of kaolinite and halloysite, which the company believes will have significant cost saving effects for future works.
Significant delays for laboratory results continue to affect LRS’ ability to report results from the Cloud Nine drilling program in a timely manner, with results from 12 holes still pending.
