Chesnara PLC (LSE:CSN), the UK and European life insurance consolidator, has announced it has appointed a new head of strategic development and investor relations, Sam Perowne.
In this new role, which will come into effect from 1 April 2022, the company said Perowne will aid in delivering acquisitions and supporting investor engagement.
This will exploit one of the company’s three strategic pillars – acquiring life and pensions businesses, Chesnara said.
“His capabilities in mergers and acquisitions, wider strategic development, and investor relations strongly align with our focus at Chesnara and will help ensure we are well placed to pursue the acquisition opportunities we continue to see," said chief executive Steve Murray.
Perowne was most recently head of corporate strategy and M&A at the Phoenix Group and brings over 20 years of experience in the life insurance sector across M&A, equity and debt capital markets, investor relations, and strategic development.
"He brings a wealth of experience across insurance and has been integral to much of the back book consolidation activity seen in the UK,” added Murray.
