10.15am: Bidstack and Tekmar lead London's risers
Tekmar Group PLC (AIM:TGP) shares sparked higher on Friday morning, up 12.4% to 53.95p, after it won a contract to supply cable protection systems for the new Dogger Bank wind farm off the northeast coast of England.
With a planned 3.6 gigawatts (GW) of wind power – enough renewable energy to power six million UK homes once fully operational – the Dogger Bank joint venture between SSE PLC (LSE:SSE), Equinor and Eni is set to become the world's largest offshore wind farm.
Teeside-based Tekmar said it has been awarded a contract with contractor DEME Offshore to design, manufacture and supply its 'Generation 10 TekTube CPS' to protect subsea cables on the first two phases of the project, Dogger Bank A and B, with a customer option for the third phase, Dogger Bank C.
The first systems are expected to be delivered from August 2022 with production continuing into 2024.
Tekmar chief executive Alasdair MacDonald said: "This landmark contract reinforces our global market leading position in one of our core technologies and is testament to Tekmar's range of in-house engineering capabilities to address complex engineering challenges and optimise and de-risk client projects."
Elsewhere, Bidstack Group PLC rose even higher, up 35% to 4.32p, as it shook hands on what is thought to be one of the industry’s largest programmatic in-game advertising deals with Azerion, the Amsterdam-based digital entertainment and media group.
The two companies have agreed to be exclusive commercial partners for the next two years.
"We expect this to be just the start of a long and deep relationship with Azerion as both companies have strong ambitions within the digital entertainment and media space,” said Bidstack founder and chief executive James Draper.
