Esports Entertainment Group Inc said it applauds the passage of Ohio Bill 29 to legalize sports betting in the state, which has now been sent to Governor Mike DeWine for his signature.
The bill includes a provision that allows for wagering on professional eSports, creating a pathway to further leverage and monetize the company's Vie.gg wagering platform.

"The news of Ohio's sports betting bill moving to the governor for his signature is a significant step forward for our Vie.gg wagering platform and our company," said Grant Johnson, CEO of Esports Entertainment Group.

Johnson told investors that the new legislation would allow the company to advance its key partnerships with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Hall of Fame Village in Canton, and leverage the opportunity for Esports Entertainment across Ohio.
