Frontier Digital Ventures Ltd (ASX:FDV) outlined its online marketplace business strategy encompassing fast-growing emerging global markets during this week’s Proactive Online Marketplace Business Webinar.
Chief executive officer and founder Shaun Di Gregorio said that FDV invested in, owned and operated online classifieds businesses in emerging markets that were growing at pace.
“Moreover, now the terminology is online marketplaces rather than classifieds as the classifieds model has evolved rapidly over recent years.”
Growing regions
He said FDV operated online marketplaces across three regions – “LATAM is a large market for us and we are in quite a number of countries from central America to the top of South America; in Asia where we operate business in a number of markets in developing Asia; and across the MENA [Middle East and North Africa] markets where we operate a number of businesses.”
He said these businesses could be compared to the realestate.com and car sales.com portals in Australia within their own markets.
Growth trajectory
Founded in May 2014 and headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, FDV saw third-quarter 2021 revenue annualise at around A$70 million and the company is quickly approaching a cashflow breakeven inflection point.
FDV’s market cap is approximately A$538.5 million. It was included in the S&P/ASX All Technology Index last year and is on the cusp of S&P/ASX 300 Index inclusion.
Di Gregorio told investors: “All of our businesses are fundamentally online classifieds businesses and are all number one in their market.
“We focus primarily on property and automotive portals and have some general classifieds portals.”
FDV partners with local teams in line with its mission to become the leading operator of the best online marketplace in emerging markets.
The company places high priority on trust and empowering partners to have the tools they need to ensure success over the short, medium and long term.
