Crypto-currency exchange Binance is planning to operate in the United Kingdom again, under Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulation.
Binance was previously banned by the FCA in June this year.
The return to the UK market could come in the next 18 months, according to a report in The Telegraph.
Changpeng Zhao, Binance chief executive, said Binance is “fully re-engaged” with regulators, with “a number of very substantial changes” in “product offerings, our internal processes, and the way we work with regulators” on the way.
Since then, it has made several concrete moves towards being able to operate in the UK again, including the hiring of “ex-regulatory staff from the UK'' and a “couple of hundred compliance people”, Zhao added.
The exchange’s hires include the former head of international relations at the Dubai Financial Services Authority, Mark McGinness, who became chief regulatory liaison officer.
Binance has been scrutinised elsewhere too, seeing regulatory resistance in Germany, Malayasia, South Korea, and Australia.
