Radiopharm Theranostics Ltd (ASX:RAD) has appointed experienced medical oncologist Dr Sara Hurvits to its scientific advisory board (SAB).
The new recruit specialises in breast cancer treatment and is involved in designing, implementing and leading clinical trials to test new targeted therapies.
As part of Radiopharm’s advisory team, Dr Hurvits can provide guidance on the company’s radiopharmaceutical pipeline, which currently involves five phase-two clinical trials and two phase-one trials.
Speaking to the appointment, Radiopharm managing director and CEO Riccardo Canevari said: “We are thrilled to have Dr Hurvitz join our highly experienced scientific advisory board.
“Her wealth of expertise and thought leadership in cancer treatment will prove invaluable as we continue the development of our radiopharmaceutical products.”
Dr Hurvitz joins Professor Eric Aboagye, Dr Johannes Notni, Dr Hong Hoi Ting and Dr David Ulmert on the SAB, which is chaired by Radiopharm’s chief medical officer Professor David Mozley.

New recruit
The latest member of RAD’s scientific advisory board, Dr Hurvitz is a Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
She’s also the medical director of the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Centre’s Clinical Research Unit at UCLA, co-director of the Santa Monica-UCLA Outpatient Oncology Practice and director of the Breast Oncology Program at UCLA’s Division of Hematology-Oncology.
Dr Hurvitz specialises in breast cancer treatment and is involved in designing, implementing and leading clinical trials to test new targeted therapies.
As part of her breast cancer research, Dr Hurvitz studies the gene expression patterns in various breast cancer populations and evaluates these patterns to detect new subtypes of breast cancer that novel therapies may more accurately target.
Radiopharm’s new joiner maintains a robust clinical and translational research portfolio and has won numerous awards, including the Marine Levine Memorial Breast Cancer Research Award from 2008 through 2015.
She is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association of Cancer Research and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Building “enviable team”
Radiopharm is new to the ASX — it hit the board in late November following a $50 million initial public offering.
Esteemed healthcare executive and bio entrepreneur Paul Hopper has taken the helm at Radiopharm and will serve as the company’s chair.
Speaking to the company’s mission on its ASX debut, Hopper said Radiopharm was focused on building an “enviable team” to advance its diagnostic and therapeutic solutions.
Recently, Radiopharm also recruited Professor David Mozley — a former Professor of Nuclear Medicine at Cornell University — as its chief medical officer and Dr Thom Tulip as chief technical officer.
In his new role, Dr Tulip brings more than 25 years of experience developing and commercialising radiopharmaceuticals and imaging agents.
