Adyton reports hitting significant copper in Feni Island maiden drilling program

The company said multi-element assays have now been returned with significant copper intersections being recorded from hole ADK004 in two zones – a shallower disseminated zone of copper mineralization followed by a zone of massive sulphide

Adyton Resources (TSX-V:ADY, OTCQB:ADYRF) Corporation has reported significant copper assays from hole ADK004 at its 100% owned Feni Island Project in Papua New Guinea.

The Brisbane, Australia-based company said the 1,982-metre (m) maiden drilling program of five diamond holes at Feni was completed in September.

It noted that the initial objectives of the program were to expand the gold resource as well as test various induced polarisation (IP) anomalies for the potential of a copper porphyry system.

Adyton said multi-element assays have now been returned with significant copper intersections being recorded from hole ADK004 in two zones – a shallower disseminated zone of copper mineralization followed by a zone of massive sulphide copper mineralization.

The disseminated zone includes 35.9m (70.7 to 106.6m) at 0.3% copper (Cu) and 1.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold (Au).

It reported a massive copper and gold sulphide at 6.4m (149.7 to 156.1m) at 5.1% Cu and 1.6g/t Au, including 3.6m (151.5 to 155.1m) at 6.9% Cu and 2.1g/t Au, including 0.7m (154.4 to 155.1m) at 14.5% Cu and 2.4g/t Au.

The company said the results validate its geological model that Feni Island has the potential to host zones of significant copper mineralization within the highly mineralized Kabang structural corridor.

“The results confirm that Feni could contain zones of high-grade copper within the extensive gold mineralization and this confirmation of massive sulphide copper in the system justifies more work which is currently being planned,” chairman and CEO Frank Terranova said in a statement.

“The recent drilling program has highlighted the potential for a significant discovery to be made in the 1.5-kilometre long Kabang structural corridor. The corridor is lightly drilled, and going north is covered by younger volcanic cover, which has hindered previous exploration efforts – a focus of the next program will be exploring under this younger cover.”

Located in a Tier 1 region along a mineral belt containing the world-class Simberi, Lihir, and Panguna gold and copper projects, Terranova added that the model at Feni was for a “Lihir-style” epithermal gold overprint on a deeper porphyry copper system.

Adyton said it previously reported that all five holes returned significant intersections of gold mineralization.

In Hole ADK001, it intersected gold from surface at 144.80m (1.0m-145.8m) at 0.8 g/t Au, including 42.70m (48.3m–91.0m) at 1.33 g/t Au; 28m at 1.60 g/t Au and 5m (70.0m–75.0m) at 2.96 g/t Au and a shallow copper intersection of 16m at 0.3% copper (Cu).

Meanwhile, Hole ADK003 intersected 84m (55.0m–139.0m) at 0.6 g/t Au, including 2m (55.0m–57.0m) at 1.36 g/t Au; 3m (61.0m–64.0m) at 1.16 g/t Au; 6m (93.0m–99.0m) at 0.96 g/t Au and 15m (124.0m–139.0m) at 1.26 g/t Au.

Finally, Hole ADK004 drilled 500m north of holes ADK001 and ADK003 and intersected 84.10m (72.0m–156.1m) at 0.96 g/t Au, including 10m (74.0m–84.0m) at 1.41 g/t Au; 15.60m (91.0m–106.6m) at 1.20 g/t Au; 4.60m (151.5m–156.1m) at 2.00 g/t Au and 1m (335.0m–336.0m) at 5.24 g/t Au.

Adyton currently has a portfolio of highly prospective mineral exploration projects in Papua New Guinea on which it is looking for copper and gold. The company’s projects are on the Pacific Ring of Fire which hosts several world-class copper and gold deposits.
