In the Twitter thread, Musk said: "Don't waste your money on that silly Apple Cloth, buy our whistle instead!"
The comment referred to Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s US$19 microfibre cloth for polishing its devices that went on sale last month.
Some news reports said Musk’s tweet was an apparent joke about whistleblowers. Tesla has faced legal action in recent months over alleged sexual harassment and racist abuse at its Fremont plant in California.
The Cyberwhistle is shaped like Tesla’s Cybertruck, an electric pickup truck that was supposed to come into production this year, but the date has been pushed back until 2022. The description on the website reads: "Inspired by Cybertruck, the limited-edition Cyberwhistle is a premium collectible made from medical-grade stainless steel with a polished finish. The whistle includes an integrated attachment feature for added versatility."
