AJ Bell PLC (LSE:AJB) indicated its direction of travel with the launch of a new easy-to-use, commission-free trading app earlier this week.
Named Dodl, it is designed to appeal to younger investors and is the latest initiative by the wealth management platform to shift the age profile of its 380,000 or so customers down the curve.
Expect some detail about young customers with its full-year results Thursday, though the numbers themselves were already flagged in October.
The gradual easing of COVID restrictions earlier this year has seen retail trading activity return to "more normal" levels, AJ Bell said.
In October’s pre-close trading statement, the platform said key drivers of long-term growth like customer numbers and net inflows, continued strongly in the fourth quarter.
It added that demand for investment solutions has also continued to build across both the advised and direct-to-consumer markets.
Unlikely to get mentions are bitcoin and the other cryptocurrencies as Bell has made it clear that in its opinion these have no place in a 'rational' portfolio.
