Dispersion Holdings PLC (AQSE:DEFI, OTC:DSPHF) launched a new platform that allows simple access to competitive crypto yields from decentralised finance (DeFi).
AQRU is a consumer-facing platform that opens up DeFi markets to everyday investors, Dispersion said.
The platform, which will also be available to institutional and professional investors, includes trading of the Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) cryptocurrencies as well as three ‘stable coins’ which are USD-pegged digital assets – they are Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC) and Dai (DAI).
Significantly, it provides yields of up to 12% on held assets and, according to Dispersion, makes the conversion of fiat currency to cryptocurrency simple and understandable.
"With nothing more than a smartphone, users will have access to the decentralised markets with none of the complexity and expense that has been the case until now,” said Dispersion chief executive Philip Blows.
“We are thrilled to streamline and democratise finance by providing a service that will be at the cutting edge of the DeFi revolution."
He added: “We believe there is strong global demand for a simple to use and transparent service that enables investors to generate additional returns from their cryptocurrency assets.”
Dispersion bought AQRU for £8.75mln in October to seal its largest investment since its April IPO on the Aquis Exchange.
AQRU will operate the retail DeFi arm and the platform is being launched to a global audience with certain regulatory exclusions.
No services will be offered in any territory where it would be unlawful to do so, the company said, and therefore the platform will not be open to UK based investors until the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has granted approval to operate in the UK.
In the meantime, an anti-money laundering registration was filed with the FCA in April and an application with the Central Bank of Ireland (LSE:BKIR) is underway to further expand AQRU's regulatory footprint.
